I remember the rich feeling of being raised in a city of Blackness: The 90’s in Washington D.C. when it was known as Chocolate City. Trips to the neighborhood library is where my love for storytelling and writing began; and with my mom being a huge movie buff, it wasn’t long before I declared myself an actress. Oldies R&B and Go-Go filled my house daily as my dad loved music, and I aspired to be the life of the party just like him. As an involved Washingtonian and Howard University alumni, my dad knew people everywhere we went, from the local soul food spot, to school board meetings. His city became my city, and the idea of community became my foundation as an artist. As an only child, I developed an imagination for creating characters because of all the time I spent alone. But when I went out into the neighborhoods, I was always watching the people. Observing their lives and mannerisms: the block kids, the old folks, the wealthy, the hustlers, the big families unlike my own, then I’d put them into my skits and stories.

This led to pursuing my BA in Theater at Temple University where I eventually Co-Founded my own undergraduate theater ensemble for students of color, Each Other For Each-Other, reaching the North Philadelphia community, and expanding my mission to seek deep inclusion of underrepresented voices and bodies in my work.

Since entering the professional world of theater, I’ve worked with theaters such as Simpatico Theatre Project, Olney Theatre Center, Folger Theater, Silver Spring Stage, Theater Alliance, and the D.C. Capital Fringe Festival. I’ve also worked in arts administration, doing Development, Events, and Community Engagement at Studio Theatre, serving time on Literary Committees (Studio Theatre 17-18, BAPF 2020 & 2021), working to develop diverse content, donors, and audiences.

I spent the last three years traveling around the world, first, across the U.S. on my first national tour, with the National Players Tour 72, then, within the U.K. as I study at The British American Drama Academy Midsummer in Oxford Program. Recent credits include playing Claudia in Lydia R. Diamond’s adaptation of The Bluest Eye at Theater Alliance in SE D.C., and Mench in New Kid with Imagination Stage.
